The Veterans Parade
The Veterans Day Parade on November 11, 2024, will feature House the Homeless among its participants in Austin. The parade is set to start at 9:00 am, moving along Congress Avenue from the Bridge to the Capitol Building, where a commemorative ceremony will be held. In 2021, at least 583 veterans in Texas died by suicide; and no fewer than 1,711 veterans in Texas experienced homelessness in 2022. A recent federal report indicates a concerning 19% surge in homelessness among Texas veterans from 2022 to 2023, marking one of the most significant increases in the nation. With over 35,000 veterans impacted nationwide, it’s imperative to elevate awareness and push for effective interventions. We invite you to join us in paying tribute to these valiant individuals and bolstering initiatives to equip them with necessary support. Your presence is welcomed as we unite to effect change.
